Programs And Initiatives
At the heart of our mission is a simple goal: to ensure that no one in our community goes hungry.
Through a variety of programs and initiatives, we provide access to nutritious food, support healthy living, and respond to the unique needs of individuals and families across our region.
From our client-choice food distribution model to community partnerships, outreach efforts, seasonal drives, and educational programs, everything we do is guided by dignity, compassion, and a commitment to lasting impact.
But we’re more than just a food bank. Our facility includes a community kitchen and conference room, a vegetable garden, and a 56-panel solar energy system—all part of a growing, sustainable campus designed to support, empower, and connect.
We also strive to form stronger associations with partners like the Kimberley Food Recovery Depot and the Kimberley Cranbrook Food Network, working together to reduce waste, share resources, and expand our collective reach in the fight against food insecurity.
We’re always looking for new and innovative ways to serve our community and make it a better, more hopeful place for everyone.
At the heart of our mission is a simple goal:

Fundraising & Food Drives
We’re always looking for passionate individuals and groups to support our mission—and there are many ways to help!
While volunteer opportunities arise from time to time, we especially welcome individuals with experience in fundraising or those interested in taking a leadership role in organizing support for our food bank.
In addition to our own fundraising efforts throughout the year, we’re fortunate to have many local businesses, schools, faith groups, and families running independent food drives and fundraising events. These community-led efforts make a huge difference, and we encourage you to start your own.
Whether you’re organizing an event at work, school, or with friends and family, your creativity and initiative can go a long way in helping us meet local needs. You’re also welcome to bring us your ideas—we’re always open to new ways to make an impact.
Have a look what’s happening at our food bank!
COMMUNITY KITCHEN
A fully equipped space with the potential for preparing meals, hosting cooking classes, and fostering community through shared food experiences.

HANDS ON VEGETABLE GARDEN
A space run by food bank volunteers where community members can learn and help to grow fresh produce, promoting food literacy and self-sufficiency. The harvest supports the food bank by providing fresh, healthy food for clients.

CONFERENCE ROOM AND LIFESKILLS SPACE
A planned multipurpose space for workshops, training, and community programs on topics like nutrition, budgeting, and food security. It offers access to technology for essential tasks and other learning opportunities, and is available for use by community organizations.

SOCIAL ENTERPRISE/LAND DEVELOPMENT
We’re on the lookout for Income-generating initiatives—leveraging our available land and resources—that strengthen the food bank’s financial resilience while supporting local needs and offering diverse, inclusive services.
With over an acre of land available, Kimberley Helping Hands Food Bank is excited to explore opportunities for collaboration with individuals, groups, or organizations interested in developing the space for social enterprise or other community-benefit projects. We believe this land holds great potential to serve our community in new and meaningful ways. Whether you have a fully formed plan or just the seed of an idea, we’re open to hearing your proposals. Let’s work together to create something that supports and strengthens Kimberley for years to come.
Feeding Communities, Protecting the Planet
Our food bank is committed to sustainable environmental practices, proudly operating with the help of 56 solar panels that generate the power needed for our facility. This clean energy supports our daily operations and future development, reflecting our dedication to a greener, more responsible future. Environmental concerns are an integral part of our decision-making process, ensuring our growth aligns with our commitment to sustainability.
